Morning Practice
NRG Swimming is now able to once again offer morning practices to its Senior and Junior Groups, thanks in large part to an arrangement made with B & R health club. These practices will start November 16th.
Morning practices are an essential part of training. While many of us don't particularly like going to morning practices, they provide a lot to the success of the swim season, and individual meets.
We compete in the morning, to have success with that, we must also train in the morning. It is no secret that you can swim faster during the time of day that your body is used to swimming, than you can at times that you are not used to swimming. If we develop a comfort with swimming fast in the morning, it will show in the results of our meets. It will also, in time, help you feel more refreshed during the day. I know from personal experience, that I feel much better throughout the day, if I am able to get a morning workout in. I'm much healthier too, when I can do it on a regular basis.
While I understand that schedules and personal feelings about this subject vary, it is in everyone's best interest to attend morning practices regularly, both during the week and on Saturdays. We have had some issue with this over the last couple of years, and it has showed up in the results. We need to get back to doing the little things right that made us a number one team in MA. Please, give it an opportunity, I can guarantee that you will see a positive improvement in your swimming, if you commit to attending all available practices and not just the convenient ones.
Hands down, the best thing I ever did as a swimmer was attend morning practice. I saw a big improvement in my swimming within months. Attending morning practices did more for me as a swimmer than lifting weights, and it will help you too.
